Analysis for innovation

Through its subsidiary PontLab, Aequalis is able to use the most modern analytical techniques for materials analysis, characterization and research. The presence of specific expertise allows us to study metals, plastics, textiles, paints, fuels, solvents, paper, cement, compounds for the pharmaceutical industry.

CHEMICAL ANALYSIS

The elemental composition of materials is detectable through the Spectrometer ICP-OES Perkin Elmer Optima 7300 DV coupled to the Microwave MW3000; the carbon and sulfur percentage is detectable by C-S Analyzer.

CHEMICAL/PHYSICAL CHARACTERIZATION

The identification and comparison of different materials is made possible by the use of different analytical tools, such as:
- Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC) Perkin Elmer Diamond
- Thermogravimetric Analyzer (TGA) Perkin Elmer P1 TGA
interfaced to FT-IR spectrometer Perkin Elmer Spectrum 400
- Gas Chromatograph Perkin Elmer Clarus 500
- Dynamic-mechanical Analyzer (DMA) Perkin Elmer DMA 8000.

ELECTRONIC MICROSCOPY

Morphological analysis of fractures, treatments and surface coatings, analysis of historical artifacts, organic tissues and ballistics are executable by Scanning Electron Microscope Zeiss Evo MA15 with high resolution LaB6 source. The X-ray Microanalysis allows to perform quantitative spot analysis.

CHEMICAL IMAGING

With the Chemical Imaging innovative technology, available on the IR Microscope Perkin Elmer Spotlight 400, you can simultaneously acquire chemical (IR spectra) and spatial (sample image) information.
Within minutes, you can perform the study of multilayers, the surface dishomogeneities or identify pollutants on any solid material. The technique has applications in chemistry, biology and medicine, but it may be useful for any investigation as to detect differences in chemical nature (eg, technical expertise, lawyers, etc.).

NEW MATERIALS RESEARCH

Aequalis is able to study physical or chemical blends of resins and polymers, optimizing the mechanical properties based on usage desired.

METALLOGRAPHY

We are able to perform micrographs, macrographs, micro hardness, quench surveys, analysis of inclusions, grain size, structure verification of any metallic material, according to the applicable reference standars.

FAILURE ANALYSIS

Aequalis is able to perform analysis of breakdowns and failures, provide input to the activities of Problem Solving.
